About Me

So much of our future lies in preserving our past.

-Peter Westbrook

My name is Emily Peace. A country NSW based high school teacher,  occasional wedding photographer and history fanatic, my obsession with genealogy came about early on, however it wasn’t until the end of 2016 that I properly began this journey.

It all started with a DNA test. Yes, I am one of *those* young, new age genealogists. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good old paper trail. But, what happens when a paper trail goes cold? What happens when it goes cold only as far back as my Mum’s birth mother? I am the child of an adoptee, who took on the search for my Mum’s biological father, using a combination of DNA testing and traditional methods between November 2016 and July 2019. I found him.

It doesn’t stop there though. This search and the DNA testing has seen me branch out my research to all lines of my family. Biological maternal, adoptive maternal and paternal sides, the lot.  Feel free to join me as I document my ancestors lives whilst simultaneously seeking living biological family. It’s been one hell of a ride so far.
